"This painting is about ballet dancers in class and their relationship with the mirror - friend and foe," explains Liz. "One of the dancers is with American Ballet Theater and is a third generation professional ballerina."
San Francisco, California
Liz is a self-taught artist who is inspired by the graceful movement of the figure. She paints both from her own photographs and from life. One of her favorite subjects, the dancer, exemplifies a celebration of the female form and the artist’s personal love of ballet. Liz’s paintings are emotional and even raw, capturing each subject with active line- and brushwork. She does not assign an intended interpretation or narrative to her paintings; “I think that each viewer brings their own response to my art, and I don't care to 'mess' with their vision and experience.”
