Artist Lynne Tompkins Brice displays a still life of the classic BLT sandwich split in half and laid on a napkin. "Biting into a big old bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich is a delicious experience," says Lynn. She intends to recreate the sensation of crunching, squishing, and dribbling as the sandwich is consumed. Her work captures the subject thoroughly, telling the whole story.

Lynne Tompkins Brice

Atlanta, Georgia

Artist Lynne Tompkins Brice paints realistic gourmet portraits. She takes reference photographs of curated cuisine arrangements in proper lighting and later eats the study. "I think of myself as a reporter when capturing my subject in paint, telling the whole story, whether it's about a cheeseburger, a puppy, or a person," says Lynne. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Kent State University. Still, she set it aside to work as director of marketing in corporate America and later as a small specialty food business owner. After several years, Lynne rekindled her passion for painting through her mentor, who helped her regain the skills and confidence to begin exhibiting and selling art again. Lynne enjoys a sunny work area through a large picture window in her home studio in Atlanta. She shares the space with a curious kitty who loves rearranging paint tubes and reclining underfoot while at the easel. Music constantly plays, and she is known to dance as she paints. Lynne loves eating, reading recipes, preparing meals, and experimenting with various ethnic cuisines with her husband. This obsession sends her and her husband to the gym or the hilly streets of their neighborhood every day or sometimes to unknown places, and they try to travel each year to new horizons.
