The physical beauty of Los Angeles is an aggregate of idiosyncrasies.  Imported flora and a hybrid architectural style make striking surprises possible on an average drive down an average block.  In this painting the ubiquitous ficus trees, and the deep shade they provide, frame the setting sun's reflection on a building at the edge of Santa Monica.  This painting has wrapped white edges.  It is wired and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jesse

Jesse’s scenes of Los Angeles capture the essence of the city with compelling accuracy. The artist’s landscapes, often set at dusk, convey the glowing natural beauty of the West Coast, but also the industrial sprawl of California’s largest city. The juxtaposition of concrete and beaches, streetlights and sunsets represents the constant tension between humans and nature. While many of the scenes appear picturesque at a glance, upon closer look the viewer sees the omnipresence of man. And yet, amid the expansive urban jungle, the magical rays of the sun manage to shine through.
