The inspiration for this piece came from seeing a field of cow parsley in a foggy field. I thought that the silhouette was expressive in a  way that I sought to better understand. For this piece I first built the stretchers and stretched and gessoed the canvas. Then used the old masters technique of layering many light glazes of color.

This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Sarah Beth

Sarah Beth Goncarova uses a variety of techniques to convey the importance of very contemporary dilemmas. Her hushed, thick brush strokes portray barren environments, bold textures, or photorealistic paintings in a state of flux. The viewer is invited into her paintings to join her in social activism that ranges from women's rights to environmentalism.
