This painting is based on a scene along the South Platte River in eastern Colorado, well away from the mountains.  With the simplicity of the composition, the stillness of the water and the relatively cool color palette, this is one of my more peaceful landscapes.  During the course of the painting I decided to push the simplicity of it all by maintaining the graphic and blocked in style of the elements in this picture.
