Jean W. Thomas
Lake Oswego, Oregon

Jean W. Thomas takes a colorful, dynamic approach to her subjects. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon where rivers, bridges, vineyards and more inspire her to paint. Always searching for intriguing subject matter, one of her pieces was inspired by an onsite painting excursion to a power plant! The Impressionist style greatly influences her work and she especially pays attention to light.

Artist and Customer Comments

Hi Jean- just received your painting "The Fires of Summer" and it was all I had hoped for. I could almost feel the heat flowing from the painting and loved your sense of texture and color. It is a very intriguing subject matter and if taken from real life I hope the fire was not close to where you live. Keep up the great work. Cheers, Frank

Hi Jean- just ordered your "Fires of Summer" which I really like. Please ensure that there is a wire on it for me to hang it properly. Many thanks and have a Merry Christmas. Cheers, Frank

Comments About This Piece

Experimenting with unusual materials such as glass beads, metallic paint and rice papers created a very unique surface for this artwork. The piece is on illustration board and will need a frame for display.

Mixed media artwork

Mixed media refers to an artwork that is created using several different types of traditional art media, for example oil paint, ink and collage. The specific media used for each mixed media piece on UGallery is listed in the notes section.

Illustration board

Illustration board is thin paperboard. It is often used for technical drawing and illustration. It provides one working surface, which separates it from bristol board that has a front and back working surface. If not already framed, most illustration board artwork will require framing.

A one-of-a-kind artwork is a unique piece handmade by the artist. There is only one in existence. The work may be part of a series, however, the piece itself is unlike any other. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
