This painting is part of my whale watching series. It depicts a sunny day on the water.
The painting was done with inks and dyes on rice paper. Color and movement are key to this composition.

This piece is on a cradled wood panel and the painting continues around the sides. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jill

J. Concetta received her MA in Design from the University of Minnesota where she studied color theory under great artists. One professor, Marian-Ortolf Bagley, often said that a painting must work in all directions to be truly unified. So J. would test works by hanging them upside down, and in each direction. J. sold some paintings in Minneapolis after graduation, but went on to manage the ink and paint department of an animation studio. The intense hues of the inking technique, along with Paul Klee’s use of transparent color, strongly influence her current body of work.
