I've been wanting to create the effect of an egg just starting to hatch for quite some time now and I finally got brave enough to try it! I was pondering using this title while I was working on the piece and then it kept popping up again, in a book I was reading and in an article on my newsfeed on the phone one day...

This piece is made of acrylic paint and eggshells on a gallery wrapped canvas and the painting continues around the sides. The work comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jennifer

Jennifer Ross grew up surrounded by the art of her mother and grandfather. Her attempt to follow in their footsteps presented detours, however, and she ended up working in art galleries selling other’s work. But her desire to paint continued to grow throughout the years. In 2008, a gift certificate to a local art store turned into an epiphany when she decided to try painting. Jennifer found inspiration in a collection of antique prints of birds’ nests and eggs by the English artist, F.O. Morris, and began to create an avian series. These paintings serve as symbolic family portraits of what we all hold dear - our home and loved ones. Today, she is often commissioned to paint various colored eggs representing patrons' family members.
