Ronda Waiksnis
Peachtree City, Georgia

Ronda Waiksnis captures movement through her unique creation process. Rarely using brushes, she applies heavy layers of paint with large putty knives and other tools, moving the oils around as she goes. She also keeps loud music on in the background. “It’s a fun and freeing way to work!” she says. When she’s not making art, Ronda walks her pups Bear and Luna, reads, enjoys wine with friends, and watches Game of Thrones. Fun Fact: Ronda sometimes works with her twin brother, a poet, on special projects. Either Ronda uses one of his poems as inspiration for a painting, or he writes a poem based on her artwork. They exhibited in a show together titled “Visual Poetry” and are contemplating creating a book someday.

Hi Mary, This is the only version of this painting. It's an original so it is the only one of it's kind. Thanks and please let me know if you have any other questions. Ronda

Comments About This Piece

I was in a 100-year-old farmhouse last year and was admiring a rear wall that had many layers of paint showing. It was scratched and peeling, but full of color and character. The wall told a long story that inspired a group of paintings to which this one belongs. I began with a simple oil painting that I let dry, then deconstructed it with an electric sander, wire brushes and a chisel! This process was repeated many times, each time taking away, yet revealing a different and more complete story. I hope I've created a landscape of memory, an abstract feeling. The final layer is a resin, which holds it all together. This piece is on a cradled wood panel and the painting continues around the sides. It comes ready to hang.
