This is a bank of the North Canadian River near Jones, Oklahoma just as the sun is rising. It's a very serene place, nothing but the breeze in the trees and birdsong. There is great catfish and bass fishing to be had in the river. And when the fishing is slow, one can watch people noodle. To those of you who don't know what noodling is, it's when a crazy person sticks his bare arm in a hole under water in the hopes that a very large catfish will bite his arm- thus enabling the noodler to pull a very large catfish out of its hiding place. I wouldn't suggest noodling, because there are snakes and snapping turtles in those holes. It's interesting to watch while you're waiting for something to take your bait. The painting is varnished, the sides are finished in black, and it's wired to hang on your wall as soon as it arrives at your home.

Patricia Freeman lives in Oklahoma City with her husband. When asked why she paints, Patricia replied, "I paint because I have to." The process, peeling the plastic off a new canvas to smelling the paint, lifts her to a state of pure joy.
