"Being There" evokes childhood memories of the dunes in Michigan where my family visited every year. The painting is built up in many layers and scraped to reveal colors that lie beneath. This piece is made of oil paint and cold wax medium. It is painted on a cradled wood panel with finished dark grey edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Kathy

Born and raised in Chicago, Kathy Blankley Roman has been making art of one kind or another as far back as she can remember. Her preference for an earthy palette reflects a connection she felt as a child to the prehistoric cave art of Lascaux. With a background in calligraphy and illustration, Kathy’s art took an entirely new direction in 2010 when she started painting abstract work and studying with arts educator and author, Steven Aimone. Kathy’s paintings have appeared in juried and small group shows nationally and online.
