"This collage consists of three different pictures," explains artist Jerome Cholet. "The original is a photo of famous Austrian model Augusta Alexander that I re-worked digitally and manually glued and collaged together. In my view, it shows that our faces and our souls consist of different parts and sometimes unite contradictions."

Jerome Cholet

Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Artist Jerome Cholet brings together the aesthetics of Pop Art, fashion and social media in his contemporary portraits. "I just love the diversity our world offers, which I reflect in my art," says Jerome. "For me there is no naive art or fine arts, for me there is art that moves people - or doesn't." In high school he studied in Versailles close to Paris, and then did a tour of social service in the Amazon in Brazil working with malnutritioned children. Later, he spent three years as a journalist in South Africa. Today, Jerome's apartment is full of Amazon clay sculptures, wooden sculptures from Africa and big pictures from an emerging Botswanan artist, which he fondly regards for inspiration. He maintains a small studio in his home brimming with supplies and reference material. In his day job, he works as a communications director for an advertising agency.
