This piece was created after Harvey and before Irma hit the US Coast, reminding me of our rising oceans and how those of us on the coast are vulnerable.  I used architectural blueprints as my collage for a double entendre with the housing crisis. But despite a gloomy message this has a rosy pink lining.

Getting to Know Leslie

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.
