"Turbulences 11" explores the assimilation of aerosol painting, pyrography and sanding techniques on wood. This ethereal series solicits our visual perception by suggesting a discoverable lattice of motifs emerging out of defacement and obscuration. This piece is on a cradled wood panel with finished natural edges. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Melisa

The natural world is the blueprint for Melisa’s work, while allusions to past and contemporary culture inform its development. She approaches her artwork by developing her own hybridization of artistic practices. Melisa relies on commercial tools such as blow torches and electrical sanders to create her work, in addition to other labor-intensive methods. By exploring the assimilation of aerosol painting, pyrography, and sanding on wood, Melisa produces unique abstract art that is simultaneously geometric and organic.
