This piece is from my still life series and it is worked in layers. The surface is transparent and it has the effect of a wax medium. The piece has a subtle but rich presence with many small details.  The artwork is canvas stretched over wood and the sides are painted black. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Sidnea

Sidnea’s abstract paintings are inspired by her “frenetic urban life.” Working out of a shared studio in San Francisco’s SOMA district, Sidnea develops her compositions based on emotions and ideas derived from the city around her. She used mixed media to articulate everyday elements such as decaying buildings, wires, graffiti, and architecture. However, instead of creating artworks that reflect the darker side of urban existence, Sidnea uses bright colors, bold shapes, and dynamic compositions to convey the inherent complexities and fundamental delights of metropolitan life.
