About
This
Artwork

Using colorful patterns and symbolism, artist Alana Clumeck creates a striking piece with two wolves facing each other, standing before a dark spheric background. "One representing good, the other representing evil," says Alana. "Perched on top of the world, with a patterned landscape and a star-speckled sky. Which wolf wins? The one that you feed more." In this piece, Alana used a mix of acrylic paint, oil pastels, and watercolor to create distinct dimensions of tone and texture.

Alana Clumeck

Buellton, California

Australian-born Alana Clumeck was raised by artistic parents who owned a pottery studio during her youth. Although she grew up throwing pots, it wasn’t until she was pregnant with her second child that she began painting as creative therapy. For Alana, being an artist is entwined with motherhood. She works from her home studio, so she often paints while watching her children play. When the kids are at school, painting becomes precious meditative time alone. “Since my discovery of art came as a form of therapy, I still use it to paint out my thoughts or feelings,” says Alana. “I will often use symbolism within my paintings to represent how I feel.”

We love this piece! The texture and detail is amazing and the coloring is perfect in our home. We especially love how the colors change based on how the light enters our living room. It is such a dramatic piece and we enjoy it every day.
