About
This
Artwork

This abstract piece was inspired from my nights boating, when we would dive off the side of the boat and float on our backs, watching the stars reflected in the water as if we were in outer space. The painting is oil, acrylic, collage, and graphite on cradled wood panel with finished aqua edges. It comes ready to hang.

Leslie Morgan

Santa Cruz, California

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.

I'm so glad you like my Art! That makes my day! I've been busy in the studio over the holidays so keep an eye on my work here at UGallery for the new stuff. I had several pieces in Miami Basel art fair this year so I flew out to check out the scene and was very inspired. I'm going to be making a lot of new and hopefully awesome work. I also finished up my residency at the Recology Center (the Dump) and will be posting the art I made from all the amazing recycled objects that I found there. It's a bit more 3d than my usual work but still all about the Water! Take care, Leslie

The piece is even more beautiful in person! We love our new painting. We feel so lucky to have it! It's in a prominent place in the house so we get to see it frequently and it's available for all our guests to see. What a cool piece.

The piece is gorgeous and I am hanging it over a bath ....The perfect theme !! I love the metal base and the worn, slightly rusty appearance. Thank you Leslie.

I bought and just received "There's No Getting Over It." I love it and love your work. I can't explain why that particular piece spoke to me, but it did. I follow your work and plan to purchase more in the future. Such creative imagination. Thanks!

I've officially entered the YouTube space, my friends, and while my website may not be Wordpress, I'm going to go ahead and say I'm in the blogosphere too with my first blog post at http://lesliemorganart.com ! All this is so that I can properly introduce you to my new collection "People Are Dogs" as well as keep (both of us) a little better in touch. I plan to keep the website's blog up-to-date with my work and if I don't, I welcome you to harass me on my (brand new) Facebook business page: http://facebook.com/LeslieMorganArt.SF - Just click the "Like" button if you want to keep in touch! For the "People Are Dogs" collection, I used acrylic tinting and a "heady" switcheroo to turn around these turn of the century, stylized portraits of people and their favorite family members, their dogs. Not only do I love playing with the pet-to-owner dynamic but I'm also big on creative reuse, particularly with old photographs, which tend to speak to me in a very satirical tone. As for that head
