About
This
Artwork

This piece is a result of Amber's current focus on become looser, more abstract and freer with her painting style. "I am experimenting with layering, texture, and the idea of leaving work with an unfinished, raw look," says Amber. This piece was made using a combination of house paint and oil paint. It has multiple layers of paint which gives it a subtle, slight texture.

Bigger is better. For Amber Reid, the actions required to create large art are directly linked to the power of her pieces. She loves to create pieces that engulf the viewer. She draws inspiration from many feminists and performance artists of the 60s. To tell a story racked with emotion, Amber creates work with words and lines from her favorite books or songs.

G Diaz purchased this artwork. style="color: #000000;"6/30/2022 | 9:14 AM

As initially received it would not hang as pictured. I had to relocate the screws and wire to hang it as pictured. We later discovered the image changes with reflected light - very nice surprise.

Thank you so much. What a sweet sentiment. I'm glad to know it's going to such a loving, happy home. That means a lot to me. Will be shipping it shortly!

My husband and I love the piece we just purchased. (Wolf). It is the perfect blend of the feminine and the masculine, fantasy and realistic, rugged and refined. It speaks to me on many levels. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Hi Jackie! Thank you for the lovely post. It is beyond amazing that my stuff is helping inspire you to make it to art school, because I feel like I was JUST that age and longing to go myself. It feels like yesterday! You must be super excited. Enjoy this period of your life, it holds nothing but endless possibilities. If you ever want to write, or send me some photos of your art, feel free to! I'd love to see your stuff. And I can show you a couple others of mine that didn't make it on to Ugallery. Good luck with everything fellow artist!

Thank you so much M Kenig for taking the time to write and the kind words. It can be discouraging trying being an artist sometimes, but comments like yours and knowing that someone out there is intrigued and cares, truly gives me a rush and reminds me that all this is worthwhile.

Amber, I have to agree with Case, "Wrapped Up" and "Jessy" are spectacular. But there is something about "Never Alone" that just draws me. Keep up the great work.

Amber Flora Reid 5/2/2010 | 11:43 PM

Thank you Case! I really appreciate the support, it means the world to me : ) The paintings will be waiting, and in the meantime I'll try to get some more up for you to enjoy. Thanks again- you brightened my day!

Case style="color: #000000;"5/1/2010 | 10:37 AM

Amber, I am hoping "Wrapped Up" and "Jessy" are still available in 1-2 years. I'm saving up to buy them. They're incredible. I love it. I can't wait to see more from you. Good luck with your passion and career!

I graduated from CSULB few years back. I never like to work on portrait but you gave me a different view. Cool stuff.

Thank you S Runyan! I really appreciate the comment, tremendously, and am very glad you like the Blues painting. I'm sorry if it's on the expensive side, but big canvases aren't cheap for students these days =( and also, the ties are my grandpa's, so it's a little sentimental. I haven't added any artwork for a long time unfortunately, but definitely will be soon during winter break... so keep on checking back and you might find another you like! Thanks again for taking an interest!

S Runyan style="color: #000000;"12/13/2008 | 1:46 PM

I love your artwork! I have been looking at your profile all day! The blues piece is my favorite! I just wish I could afford it

Amber Flora Reid 1/30/2008 | 1:50 AM

Milky- I am sorry it took so long for me to answer! The lyrics are from an Avril Lavigne song. I don't necessarily like her, but the words of the song really hit home for me. Hope you are enjoying it.

E Tanenbaum style="color: #000000;"5/15/2007 | 12:12 AM

What is the origin of the lyrics from your "Lyric Hair" piece? Is that your own words or from elsewhere?

E Tanenbaum style="color: #000000;"3/14/2007 | 12:59 PM

I just bought Lyric hair. It looks even better in person. Thanks.

E Tanenbaum style="color: #000000;"1/22/2007 | 3:13 PM

I love your artwork. The pieces Green portrait, Lyric hair and Music man are really sweet. Look forward to purchasing a piece from the site.
