Part of artist Gregory Brown's signature series of abstract paintings created around vintage, "pre-death" Gianni Versace ties. Gregory starts a painting by selecting a tie from his continually changing collection. He says "it comes down to if I'm in a conservative mood or a bright mood! And what people don't know is that Gianni created an IMMENSE collection with varying color schemes from 1990 to 1997."
This Versace tie has a rare design of colored checks and straight lines. It is a Black Label Couture tie, which was the most expensive tie of Gianni's in 1995. The painting is wired to hang in two different directions. The Versace label has been removed from the tie and is attached to the back of the canvas.
