I created this piece after doing a long distance swim from a buoy to shore.  Three days later a great white shark tipped over a kayaker in the same area that we had done our swim.  This piece has the beauty, the unknown, and the thrill of all that went into that swim.  This painting is oil, acrylic, collage, and graphite on cradled wood panel with finished green edges.  It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Leslie

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.
