Teresa Dirk’s artistic voice is profoundly influenced by her upbringing in the rustic American south. Seamstresses, quilters, gardeners, and farmers, served as creative role models throughout her childhood that cultivated her love of nature, growth, and creativity. She works in mixed media to create abstracts that channel the energy of her past. Her paintings are deeply personal and carry precise meanings and particular stories to them. The whimsical lines and playful color choices lend themselves to a childlike quality that charms with nostalgia. Though each of her paintings reflect her personal surroundings and history, she delves into complex conceptual topics, such as urban decay and nature’s fundamental connections. She has a passion for the process, and views it as propagating the brilliant and expressive energy she has witnessed throughout her life.

Happy Friday! Big week. We just finished a successful Open Studios at our historic Livestock Exchange Building in Kansas City, MO. So this week, I reorganized my paints and produced some new work on Arches paper. Please watch for these new lovelies to be added to my gallery. Also please follow me on Instagram and Facebook at Artist Teresa Dirks. You can see my process and artist lifestyle. I look forward to seeing you there. Give me a shout out. Cheers! My best, Teresa
Welcome! How's your day? Thanks for visiting my artwork on Ugallery. So delighted to have my new series on Ugallery. After traveling to Mexico last fall, I fell in love with the vibrant stacks of colors at the Blanket Factory outside of Todos Santos. From this experience, I have revisited a former series that I painted 10 or so years ago: the graphic color blocking inspired by Rothko, Diebenkorn and Thiebaud and now the Blanket Factory. My work investigates the relationship of color, line, texture, movement, and pattern. Over the years, my work has developed texturally and organically by using the visual elements and principles you see here. Moreover, my work investigates relationships and envisions a world where we are all giving and given respect. My work is about harmony. It is about those lines and those intersections or parallels, where good things happen. Cheers and hope to cross paths with you soon. Xoxox, Teresa

Painted with a fresh perspective for 2018 reverting back to an older vision with a new twist and thus, deja vu. Each canvas is a piece of me and my soul and what I believe in. I hope that the love and joy that I have for the work and the love I have for this world are conveyed to you. In this current political unrest, why not share love instead of intolerance? Inside many of my paintings, the words are there and hidden. It is up to you to find them. Use this work as inspiration for a better world.
Good Morning All, Over the next few months I will be uploading more work, so stay tuned. My hope are to include some paper pieces along with more stretched canvas. This past week has been an exciting and busy time in my life. I moved into a new studio in the historic Kansas City West Bottom's Live Stock Exchange Building. My studio has a gorgeous eastern view of the KC skyline. Additionally, I am prepping for a show at my university in November. More about that later :) Happy Thursday, Teresa
