I have started a new series of paintings with a different approach. It's very rare that I draw birds. I prepared this canvas first with modeling paste and then painted with acrylic paint.  I love the drying time because it allows me more spontaneous movements. This piece has been worked with brushes and spatulas. The sides of the gallery wrapped canvas are painted black and it comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Clemence

Initially everything is abstract, gestural and intuitive for Clemence Dubois. A shape becomes a bird, a fish, a flower or a character. Her paintings capture colors and shapes that words have yet to say. She says, “I want people to look at my paintings and observe my feelings for beauty in all forms and my joy of living that permeates my art.” Clemence likes to read, watch television, swim and travel. She also leads workshops in creative and figurative painting.
