A heart shaped robin's nest with three eggs and a down feather. The empty nest was found by my niece when they took down a tree in their yard last fall. I used acrylic gel medium to build up the texture for the strands of the nest and gold tissue paper is collaged on the canvas for the background and continues on the sides of the gallery wrapped canvas. The back is wired to hang.

Getting to Know Jennifer

Jennifer Ross grew up surrounded by the art of her mother and grandfather. Her attempt to follow in their footsteps presented detours, however, and she ended up working in art galleries selling other's work. But her desire to paint continued to grow throughout the years. In 2008, a gift certificate to a local art store turned into an epiphany when she decided to try painting. Jennifer found inspiration in a collection of antique prints of birds' nests and eggs by the English artist, F.O. Morris, and began to create an avian series. These paintings serve as symbolic family portraits of what we all hold dear - our home and loved ones. Today, she is often commissioned to paint various colored eggs representing patrons' family members.
