This is a piece from my "State of Water United" series and is an eco-art piece addressing our need for insight into protecting our reservoirs, oceans, and seas.  I often use portals in my work symbolizing a window for us to look underwater or under the surface. This is a diptych made with acrylic paint, oil paint, and collage. The top panel is 14 x 48 and the bottom panel is 48 x 48.

Getting to Know Leslie

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.
