This piece is part of Voskan's ongoing series of abstract expressionist paintings. He spends many hours over multiple sessions creating each piece. Sometimes he will work on a painting for months or even years until he finds the right inspiration to complete the composition. "This piece includes glimpses of pages of maps" explains Voskan. "I used these maps in the past to look up directions to my next client's home. These were used back when Google Maps and navigation systems were unable to guide us to our desired destinations. I remember hovering over maps to determine the roads to take to get to my destinations. Throughout the years, I have collected these maps because they hold a special place in my heart."
When Voskan Galstian approaches a canvas, he does so with an open mind. "When I am creating art I tend to sever my mind from making decisions" he explains. His paintings show this intuitive process in their dynamic movement and unique color combinations. Voskan finds inspiration in abstract expressionism; in the vein of that style, he paints based on his deepest emotions. Many people have expressed that they feel a connection with his work - in some cases, it soothes them. When he's not making art, you can find Voskan traveling or reading about geography.
