I have begun a new series of paintings focused on texture. I prep the canvas with modeling paste and then proceed with acrylic paint, which dries quickly. I used brushes, knives, and stencils to create this painting. I express my emotions through my female characters, and I hope to connect to the viewer in this way.

Getting to Know Clemence

Initially everything is abstract, gestural and intuitive for Clemence Dubois. A shape becomes a bird, a fish, a flower or a character. Her paintings capture colors and shapes that words have yet to say. She says, “I want people to look at my paintings and observe my feelings for beauty in all forms and my joy of living that permeates my art.” Clemence likes to read, watch television, swim and travel. She also leads workshops in creative and figurative painting.
