This is from my series, "State of Water United" and is inspired by the pier at the Santa Cruz, CA boardwalk where seagulls, sea otters, sea lions, sharks, seals and people love to fish.  We swim around it once a year, which is about a mile swim. This diptych is comprised of two cradled wood panels with finished edges. Both panels are 32x16 inches.

Getting to Know Leslie

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.
