This painting was inspired by recent social media events. The intent was to use bright colors and a mixture of characters.  It was created with inks, dyes, and acrylic paint on rice paper mounted on a cradled panel.  The painting continues around the sides. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jill

J. Concetta received her MA in Design from the University of Minnesota where she studied color theory under great artists. One professor, Marian-Ortolf Bagley, often said that a painting must work in all directions to be truly unified. So J. would test works by hanging them upside down, and in each direction. J. sold some paintings in Minneapolis after graduation, but went on to manage the ink and paint department of an animation studio. The intense hues of the inking technique, along with Paul Klee’s use of transparent color, strongly influence her current body of work.
