In this painting I challenged myself to capture the features and attitude of this young woman using minimal line and color. My goal was to keep the work fresh and expressive. The painting started with a drawing from life. Sensitive lines, restrained use of brilliant color, and a painterly background help to define the mood.  This painting is made of acrylics and watercolor crayon on gallery wrapped canvas with finished white edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Susan K

Susan K Boyle’s paintings always begin with a real person, a model in the studio. She employs a variety of tools to capture the gesture and spirit of the model, including brushes, pens, crayons, and even ordinary sticks. Susan aims to convey the contour and attitude of each individual. Finishing her artworks with fluid acrylics in vibrant colors, Susan evokes playful energy, movement, and vivacity in her compositions.
