A highly textured acrylic painting suggesting a foggy view of a city. The shapes of buildings are structured with geometric squares and circles. There are some gold metallic accents and neutral colors of tan, beige, gray, white, black, ecru, soft green and blue. Handmade paper is adhered to the surface and creates square shapes like windows in a high rise building.
Brenda Buffett is inspired by the dynamism in one of America’s fastest growing cities. Her bright abstract cityscapes capture a moment in time in the ever-changing urban landscape of Nashville. “The signature of this community is action and change… I hope my paintings capture a constant movement, like the energy of the turnaround in SoBro,” she explains. From her living room studio overlooking downtown Nashville, she may start with cathartic printed messages on the canvas and then use credit cards, a potato masher, eye patches, chopsticks, and feathers to build up layers in her signature style. Throughout her body of work, there are details alluding to the Nashville music scene, food, architecture and nature that invite a closer look. Brenda studied Interior Design at Belmont University, and her art is featured in the Mayor of Nashville's collection as well as a Bravo TV design show, solo shows and private collections.
