Getting to Know Robert

Robert Erod calls his style “urban renewal.” He juxtaposes bold, crisp colors against old patina textures, creating a theme of a dilapidated past merged with a vibrant future. Using pouring techniques, Robert also adds dimension and depth to the canvas through layers. Robert is a passionate and versatile artist; looking at his non-representational work today, you would never guess he started out painting landscapes and portraiture! Robert enjoys the entire process of creating art and does everything from scratch, from building his own frames to stretching the canvases. He describes his studio and “crowded and neat” and full of tools. Robert was a graphic designer before becoming a full-time painter. His favorite part of the switch is the freedom painting brings to create something big. Many of his canvases, as a result, are larger-than-life.
