Every day is an opportunity to hit the "reset" button. The sunrise is a great reminder of this and I wanted to bring it into my home.

I believe it is my job as an artist to turn the ugly into something beautiful. The Splintered Wisdom series is a creation of watercolor treescapes enhanced by collaged and detailed with graphite and color pencils. I have adopted a section of scenic highway in California to pick up all the trash left behind by tourists and residents and use images of the litter as collage pieces to create color, dimension and texture. Instilled in every piece is a gentle reminder that if we do not clean up after ourselves trees will not grow from our trash in the future.  This painting is on cradled wood panel with natural edges. It comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Linda

Linda Klein is an eco-conscious mixed media artist from California. She applies her passion for the environment to her work. “Many of my collaged tree pieces are created with bits of litter that I clean up off of scenic highways,” Linda says. “Each painting contributes to cleaning up our planet and turns ‘trash into trees.’” By repurposing litter as collage material, Linda dutifully reminds her viewers that recycling is key to a thriving future. The artist lives in Marin County, where she feels grateful to have inherited her mother-in-law’s large art studio that is always filled with light.
