"Beyond What Is Usual" is about differences and not fitting in with the norm. It was created through a process of layering inks and dyes on rice paper adhered to a gallery wrapped canvas. The piece continues around the sides and comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Jill

J. Concetta received her MA in Design from the University of Minnesota where she studied color theory under great artists. One professor, Marian-Ortolf Bagley, often said that a painting must work in all directions to be truly unified. So J. would test works by hanging them upside down, and in each direction. J. sold some paintings in Minneapolis after graduation, but went on to manage the ink and paint department of an animation studio. The intense hues of the inking technique, along with Paul Klee’s use of transparent color, strongly influence her current body of work.
