This piece is from my "Finally Summer" series. It has been a cold summer here in northern California. Beach Rinse gives homage to just how fantastic outdoor showers are especially after being in the salt water. The piece is a vintage photo that I painted on with some nostalgic touches similar to simpler times.

This piece was made with acrylic, collage, Italian plaster, and graphite on a cradled wood panel with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Leslie

Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.
