I have started a new series of paintings which are much more textured. I prepare my canvas with modeling paste even before making the first lines for the drawing. This painting is painted with acrylic. I like the drying time because this allows me more spontaneous movements.
I love to draw female characters because through them I can express my emotions, my questions and the beauty of life. I like giving names to my characters because it makes them even more vibrant and alive. Through my paintings I hope to touch the hearts of people. This painting is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished black edges. It comes ready to hang.

Initially everything is abstract, gestural and intuitive for Clemence Dubois. A shape becomes a bird, a fish, a flower or a character. Her paintings capture colors and shapes that words have yet to say. She says, “I want people to look at my paintings and observe my feelings for beauty in all forms and my joy of living that permeates my art.” Clemence likes to read, watch television, swim and travel. She also leads workshops in creative and figurative painting.
