With an emphasis on motifs and dramatic compositions, this series highlights the splendor of California cacti, whose shape and sophisticated patterns can be vectors of formal exploration. The plants’ repetitive designs allow for an intricate use of lines, dots, and strokes, while the subject’s positioning in the frame draw parallels with the natural environment, as they seem to touch the ground. In contrast with the multidimensional and colorful treatment of the cacti, the stripped-down geometric background gives the images an overall sense of motionlessness, of being stuck in time. This drawing on watercolor quality paper was made using different materials: graphite, watercolor markers, black ink and acrylic paint. A white border measuring approximately 1 inch frames the image and allows for proper matting. Without borders, the image size is approximately 16" x 22". This artwork is meant to be framed, with a mat. - Marie-Eve Champagne Spikes 7 MARIE-EVE CHAMPAGNE Drawing artwork on paper One-of-a-kind Signed on front and back 2016 18" h x 24" w 1 lbs. 0 oz. $400 SHIPS FREE ADD TO CART IN YOUR CART Add to Favorites Add to Registry Marie-Eve Champagne San Marcos, California Follow this Artist Unfollow this Artist Getting to Know Marie-Eve Southern California transplant Marie-Eve is heavily influenced by the region’s natural environment and beauty.
