Tim Scurry
Baltimore, Maryland

Tim Scurry’s digital prints are evocative of many things. A few may remind you of landscapes, others resemble flower petals, and some are reminiscent of the reflections of a precious stone. They are a form of digital cubism, playing with space and color to create visual deception. A mix of George Braque’s cubist guitars, and the geometrical drawings of M.C. Escher, Tim’s work nods to the past with a modern, graphic street-art style. Tim is a brilliant color theorist, demonstrated in the way each shape of color works methodically with those surrounding it. The placement of objects combined with their colors create passageways for the eye, leading you naturally through the composition. The identification of the highest peak, where the points of the triangles meet, shifts as you continue to explore the composition. Tim is inspired by visions that come to him during meditation, and in times of solitude. Both calm and vibrant, the work is easy to get lost in.

Limited Edition

Certain pieces of artwork on UGallery, mostly photography and printmaking, are labeled as either limited edition or open edition. Pieces that are in a limited edition are produced in a set limited quantity. Open edition artworks are not limited in quantity and can be reproduced indefinitely. In both cases, each piece in the edition is identical and is considered an original. Limited edition works are generally more valuable because of the limited number available. This piece is available exclusively at UGallery.
