This piece is part of a series I completed on migrant workers. The image depicts a man who lost two of his limbs in a train accident while crossing the border. The image was created in a subtractive process, where I began by laying down medium and then I brought out the image using erasers, paper cloths, and my fingers. The piece has been sprayed with fixative, but caution should be taken when handling the piece as it is delicate. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Drew

Drew McSherry finds inspiration in the paranormal and the darker parts of life. His images contain a sense of the macabre and oftentimes feel fantastical. He currently lives in California and has been influenced by artists like Eugéne Carriére and Odilon Redon. Fun fact: when he’s not painting, he is working on a series of children’s books.
