Pegasus has often been used as a symbol for the artist and creativity. I chose to create a black Pegasus as it reflects the nature of my work and the materials I use. The piece was done in charcoal using a subtractive method, where I lay down the medium and then remove it with an eraser. The piece has been sprayed with fixative, however, it is important to not touch the surface. This piece is on heavyweight paper and will need a frame for display.

Getting to Know Drew

Drew McSherry finds inspiration in the paranormal and the darker parts of life. His images contain a sense of the macabre and oftentimes feel fantastical. He currently lives in California and has been influenced by artists like Eugéne Carriére and Odilon Redon. Fun fact: when he’s not painting, he is working on a series of children’s books.
