About this artwork

A dramatic winter scene of an aspen forest in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, outside of Santa Fe. There is an amazing point during a snowstorm as clouds are passing and the snowfall pauses, when the atmosphere seems to glow, says artist Heather Foster. The sky is dark with clouds, but at the same time, the sun is trying to break through and creates a light strong enough to cast shadows. I imagine under the blanket of snow, the aspens, which are all interconnected are huddling together with the anticipation of more snow and cold weather.
