This is a large atmospheric abstract inspired by pattern and color found in nature. I used a color palette of warm brown, beige, tan, and rust on unstretched canvas, and then I mounted the canvas on a cradled wood panel. The edges are painted black and the piece comes varnished and ready to hang.

Getting to Know Lisa

Lisa Carney draws her inspiration from the earth’s layers and the history they hold. The drips, splashes, scrapes and scratches in her art happen spontaneously and come together to create a cohesive whole. She began to craft a more organic feel in her works after noticing the texture in her works resembled plant roots. She currently lives in Canada and admires artists like Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman.
