This piece is part of my "Numerical Value System" series. For this series, I devised a painting system in which values of gray were assigned a number value and arranged on a hexagonal surface. The system was laid out with masking tape, then hand-painted, and finally, the tape was removed. The surface of the piece is unfinished wood with cradled sides and it comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Harry

Harry Sidebotham's paintings emulate natural systems of organization; math and science play a large role in his research and inspiration for creating new works. Although he mostly focuses on painting, Harry also makes sculpture, time-based, and performative work, and uses a wide range of materials.
