About this artwork

A lush expanse of lavender fields in Provence, France. Artist Janet Dyer depicts this countryside view with varying shades of violet perfectly balanced by the greens of the surrounding terrain. A softer abstracted view of trees and hills emerges in the distance. I love doing aerial and semi-aerial views, shares Janet. It started when I was spending a month in a painting workshop, staying on a hill in Assisi. I had a semi-aerial view of miles and miles of countryside.
