Frost Moon
About this artwork
This piece is part of Pat's new Moon series, representing November's Frost Moon. The paintings explore the wonder of the moon in its ever changing aspects. Each full moon of the year has its own name, explains Pat. Back in colonial times, this was the month to set traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Fall and winter moons seem bigger and brighter to me, when the nights are cold and the air is crisp.
