This painting is from my "Fallen Angels" series. Azael is an evil, fallen angel who cohabited with women. The theme of this series was inspired from certain religions that teach that fallen angels, once pure messengers of God, followed the Devil out of Heaven and unto the Earth in rebellion against the Creator.

In my paintings the fallen angels represent, symbolically, us: people. We could say that most of us are fallen angels, for we appear to be lost people too caught up in our earthly experience. We are ruled by our minds and not our inner being, our awareness, the thinking created by the brain causes us to 'fall' when left to run on its own.

This piece is on a gallery wrapped canvas with finished edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Diana Elena

Romanian-born painter Diana Chelaru’s paintings are colorful and contemporary interpretations of human emotion. For Diana, art is a means of communication. “It is how I express my thoughts, hopes, regrets and joys,” she says. Though she gets great pleasure from applying paint to canvas, it is the expression of emotions that she finds to be most important. Diana’s style is influenced by Byzantine mosaics as well as Gustav Klimt’s subject matter and use of decorative patterns within his compositions. Each artwork is created intuitively, resulting in paintings that speak to the soul.
