This painting is one of my impressions of the quiet & peace of the rural American Heartland. I have long been drawn to old farmsteads and wanted to portray the feel of a vast sky over this one. I most often work from memories of scenes that I love from the country. My contemporary folk art landscapes are painted simply from the heart. In my work I strive to capture the feeling of quiet peace and serenity that I find in the country. This acrylic painting is done on .75 deep, gallery wrap canvas, with the sides painted dark green to match. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Sharon

Sharon France has many fond childhood memories of visits to her grandparents’ remote Midwestern farm. She now lives on her own farmstead with her family where she paints the beauty around her. Sharon found inspiration in the work of Hudson River School Artists, Minimalists, Tonalists and Realists. When she’s not painting, she loves to hike. She currently lives in Illinois. Fun fact: her homestead includes a number of pet birds like heritage turkeys, chickens, ducks and tiny finches.
