Across the Lake
About this artwork
This lake in southern New Mexico in wintertime has muted earthy colors, says artist Heather Foster. There is a lot of strife with local ranchers surrounding the reintroduction of Mexican gray wolves. I sat and pondered man's connection to nature. It seems to be represented by the water itself. In looking across the lake, the wind blows gently creating small ripples. In observing water, the viewer can see the surface, what lies beneath, the effect of the wind, and the reflection of surroundings and sky all at once.
