I am struck often by a sense of wonder at the world around me. This painting explores the sense of awe I feel inside me when I ruminate on being a creature in this vast landscape. This painting is on a cradled wood panel with finished black edges. It comes ready to hang.

Getting to Know Shawna

Shawna Gilmore calls herself a professional daydreamer. When her children aren’t waking her from her wanderings, she paints to explore the edges of wonder and reality. Her paintings weave back and forth between naturalistic investigations and surreal dreamlike scenarios. She loves to combine these two seemingly separate images to create a body of work that is “like a curio cabinet of experiences.” One prominent theme in her work is the female face or form, often representing a surrogate for herself. You can find Shawna caring for her twin children, discussing the finer aspects of life with her verbally talented husband, going for a walk or reading a good book.
