This painting has many layers and lots of texture. The paint is applied using methods of spreading, pressing and dripping so that there are no brushstrokes giving it a very organic feeling. It explores themes of nature both tranquil and complex. - Marion Wood This Water MARION WOOD Acrylic painting on stretched canvas Painting wraps around edges Ready to hang One-of-a-kind Signed on front and back 2017 60" h x 48" w x 1.75" d 11 lbs. 5 oz. $4,625 SHIPS FREE ADD TO CART IN YOUR CART Add to Favorites Add to Registry Marion Wood Newbury Park, California Follow this Artist Unfollow this Artist Getting to Know Marion Because Marion Wood does not paint in a literal form, she refers to memory, feelings, and personal experience for inspiration. She is inspired by the stillness and silence of winter, the excitement of a city, and the flowing of a river. The feelings associated with these locations are captured through abstraction, movement, and color. In her current paintings, she does not use paintbrushes; instead, she spreads, scrapes, transfers or throws paint on to the canvas. There is a dynamic energy in the way that the shapes intersect and collide; you can imagine the physicality that it requires to create each piece. Although Marion does not plan her pieces before she begins, the final result feels balanced and deliberate. Marion’s contemporary expression conveys the rich and stimulating world around her through a mix of geometric and organic forms.
