Yamilet says of the inspiration for this painting, "On the Temple of Apollo on Mount Parnassos (where the Oracle of Delphi was established), there is a phrase recorded on the stone entrance: "Know yourself." These words are like a cry from the oracle for mankind, since they hold absolute wisdom. Thinkers such as Pythagoras, Socrates, and Plato used this idea as a guide to accomplish understanding and happiness." One of the first paintings in Yamilet's series of spiritual abstractions.
Yamilet Sempe is a French-American artist who works in a boldly graphic abstract style visibly influenced by modernist aesthetics. She describes her color palette as being a reflection of her positive energy. Yamilet loves being in nature, finding inspiration in the sea near her Florida home. The subtropical weather and the brightness of the sun guides her choice to use primarily warm colors. Yamilet is also influenced by painter Hilma af Klint and the architecture of Paris.
